Cottage Project #3

Hi sweet friends!! How are ya? I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Ours was very nice. We had my parents and my grandma over for a yummy cookout. I think I gained five pounds, lol! My mom brought her McGregor cake and that is my FAVORITE!! I ate almost all of it myself, lol!!! Now I have to be good until the 25th when we go on our romantic getaway!

*****************************************************************
This weekend, Chad also did a project for me that I have been wanting for years!!! Now, I must tell you that Chad HATES home improvement projects!!! He is a behind the desk kinda guy. So the fact that he did this for me means SO MUCH!! Thank you baby, your the best! He did such a good job on it too!

See how UGLY my backsplash was before?? Hideous blue, the same as the counter tops. Now, I love the counter tops. They are pretty soft blue with pink! But I dont like it continuing up the backsplash, I just think it looks tacky.

Now, my beautiful beadboard backsplash!!! I LOVE it! It really brightens up the house. My house is all open. You can see every room from every room. So this really brightens up the kitchen and makes it look much more cottagey. And it pops against the gorgeous maple cabinets. Some of you have suggested that I paint my cabinets white. That will NEVER happen, lol! I LOVE these cabinets. It is one of the reasons I bought the house! Maple is my favorite wood. It is so soft and pretty. And I think it DOES have a cottage feel! I don't think kitchen cabinets have to be white to be cottage. I always thought cottage style had no rules. I chose the wide trim because it goes with all the rest of the trim in my home. I have a lot of beadboard in my home also, so it all just flows now. I love beadboard. Nothing says cottage like white beadboard!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!! Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me. Your comments means so much!!! Love ~ Bunny

Hello Amy, what a difference that beadboard makes. I love it. I agree cottage is what you love, no rules in decorating there. Your cabinets are beautiful, I would not paint them either. How sweet of Chad to do that for you! Your entertainment center looks so cottage sweet too! Love it, I was thinking about doing that with the corner desk that I have my sewing machine on. Now you've given me the push to do it!
Love ya, Shirl

I have beadboard on all of my kitchen walls, the backsplash as well.(Even the ceiling.) I had to cover the ugly ceiling tiles! This cottage had ugly dark paneling in most of the rooms. We covered most of them with beadboard. It does give it more of a cottagy feel. Your kitchen looks beautiful! I love all of the blue and pink. That was so sweet of your hubby!

Hi Amy,
WOW the backsplash looks amazing. What a great job Chad did with putting it in. I love the beadboard and it made your kitchen so warm and homey. The contrast with your counter is lovely. And, your cabinets are very pretty with the white. You have gotten so much done in your home and it all speaks cottage style. Magazine ready my dear. Little changes with big impact!! You and Chad are a team. Gorgeous!!

Glad you had a nice 4th. We did too and it was a long weekend till today. Now it is back to reality and back to the studio.

Thank you for stopping by.
Love you,
Celestina Marie

Oh Yes, yes I love it!! Why am I a dummy?? I never thought of using beadboard there! I have always wallpapered and it's a real pain to do underneath! If and when I do repaint the cabinets white I was going to beadboard half way the walls and new wallpaper above. Now I have all wallpaper and too expensive to do anymore. I love the cabinets as they are but mine have been forever painted! Another bravo to Chad! Your lucky he does it, Good ole Lori has to do everything herself! Love to you sissy!Lori

Hi Amy! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I started reading yours, and I love it! I will need to sit with a cup and tea and just savor your older posts. I saw your beautiful cottage custom painted on Jo~Anne Coletti's blog, how pretty! I am having her do a special painting for me of some gorgeous roses I photographed, infact, the ones I blogged about some posts back. Let me know if you don't find The Wind in the Willows, the little shop I blogged about can probably get you one in! Julie Marie

I love it! I'm a beadboard girl myself (especially painted beadboard!) and have it all over my house. Apparently it doesn't go over as well with the general public since we haven't had any offers on the house yet - but that won't stop me from using painted beadboard again! :)
I so wish I could just move my house 150 miles, but I guess that wouldn't be the best idea. :(
Can't wait to see what you do next.

Beadboard is the best--what an easy fix. Your kitchen looks very cute. I'd never paint my cupboards either--cheap woods, yes, nice maple or oak, never!

I had priced tin ceiling tiles & they were pretty pricey, & I love the beadboard best. Your kitchen is adorable. I just want to put on my party hat & gloves & come play with you!! LOL
