Afternoon Tea

One thing I do for myself everyday, is have afternoon tea. It is something I really look forward to. It is a way for me to feel special and have a little bit of time just for myself. And time for myself is hard to come by with 5 little boys!!! But 2pm is nap time and that is my me time. When I have my tea, I try to clear my mind of all negative thoughts and just enjoy the moment. I think of the things that I enjoy. Or, I will sit on my couch and look around my house for prospective projects. One of my favorite things to do!!

Here are some pointers about what I think is the perfect afternoon tea. Now, I dont get all formal with it or anything when I am alone. Growing up, my grandma and I always had afternoon tea. And of course, we had to have something sweet with it:) But when I am by myself, I still have to have a little something sweet! A couple of cookies will work perfect in a pinch! I love scones and biscotti with my tea as well. Please check out Karen at Sweet Neccesi-Teas. Her store is definitely my favorite right now!! She has some wonderful Scone recipes on her site!!! They are wonderful and not to hard to make. Karen has everything you need to have the perfect tea. Whether it is a tea party or just for you. She has teas, gorgeous tea pots and cups and saucers. I could go on forever!! Just check her out. You can get to her site by clicking on Sweet Necessi-Teas under favorite blogs. I always make sure to have a pretty and dainty cup and saucer. That really makes me feel like I am doing something special for myself. And also makes me feel very feminine, which is the way I love to feel as I am a girly girl!! Sometimes I wish I would have been born long ago when women wore the big uncomfortable dresses and always had tea together. Those days were so beautiful and the women were so elegant!

Here is a list of my favorite teas. When I buy tea at the grocery store, I love Bigelow tea. I think it has the best flavor. In fact, it is basically all I drink.

  1. Earl Grey

  2. Cinnamon Stick

  3. Constant Comment

Those would have to be my three favorites. If you don't like tea, try Chai tea. It is milk based ans sweeter. That is what my husband prefers. I cant recommend a brand of Chai, as I don't drink it often enough. If you absolutely cant stand tea, how about hot cocoa in a dainty cup or even coffee? As long as it is relaxing to you, that is what matters. And if you work in the day, try having decaf tea at night! Chad and I often have tea at night to unwind. We have had some of our best talks over tea and something sweet!!

Wow, we wrote very similar entries today! I am so glad to hear you sit down with a cup of tea while mothering five boys. That is excellent! I'm going to add a sentence about this on my blog today. If you can sit down with tea, anyone can!

Anyone who doesn't like tea probably hasn't tried great loose-leaf tea. I wish I could brew you a virtual pot of my favorite.

Hi,

I found your site through tea party girl.

I have 6 children, ages 18 - 22months, and I try to do tea everyday as well. 4 of my children are girls and they often have tea with me. They all have their own tea cups!

I really like loose-leaf tea, just started using it this year, but I do like PG Tips from England. It is in a tea bag. I do not like "flavors" in my tea. I prefer just a good black tea and a little cream!

I have enjoyed peeking around your blog!
